April 8, the World steel association announced the 19th stimulate steel making challenge competition word finals, Wu Xiao come from HBIS Group won the grand champion of professional team, and Lu Hezhong come from Tangshan Science and Technology Career Technician School won the grand champion of student team. This is the seventh professional world championship and the second student world championship that HBIS has won since 2017. HBIS Chairman Liu Jian, Worldsteel Chairman and TATA Steel CEO Thachat Viswanath NARENDRAN, and Worldsteel Director General Edwin Basson presented the awards.

The challenge was to produce high strength carbon steel to produce galvanised automotive steel sheet at the lowest cost using steeluniversity’s electric arc furnace and secondary steelmaking courses in a combined simulation. To reflect the steel industry’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of its operations, there were carbon footprint requirements for the steel grade. Wu Xiao and Lu Hezhong beat their competitors from four other regions and won their titles of industry category and student category, making HBIS Power shinning on world stage.

The SteelChallenge Simulation is the only well-known annual competition of world steel industry. The final-lists are champions of regional competitions and November 26,2024, Mr. Wu Xiao and Lu Hezhong won their champion titles of North Asia.
