April 8, World Steel Association announced 14 companies as 2025 Steel Sustainability Champions for their work in 2024 for their commitment and action in sustainable development through their involvement in worldsteel sustainability activities. HBIS won this title for consecutive 3 years base on its excellent performance in full aspect of Environment, society, management and economy. HBIS Chairman Liu Jian, Worldsteel president, TaTa Steel president & CEO Thachat Viswanath Narendran, Worldsteel Director General Edwin Basson presented the awards.

Firmly implementing Xi Jinping thought on Ecological civilization, HBIS has adopted environmental friendly, green and low carbon development as the core value in strategic development and way of production, exploring green, low carbon and sustainability road and leading green development of steel industry, winning China ESG Extraordinary Practise Award and China ESG Model Enterprise title.

HBIS launches HINEX Steel? low emission brands and builds a 6+6+5 low carbon emission, green steel and near zero emission carbon spectrum. Besides green hydrogen steel, HBIS develops CCUS revolutionary emission reduction technology, low process high ratio scrap steel in premium automobile steel production, short process high end special steel and world’s first hydrogen steel making continuous casting automobile plate production line into commission to give more green ingredient more value to steel green efforts.

First in industry, HBIS launches Carbon trading simulation in the country and publishes WisCarbon neutrality Digital platform 2.0, become the first steel enterprise in the industry to obtain the carbon inclusive certification report (PHCER). It is collaborating with Haier and Hisense to reduce carbon emission and working with Siemens to build a digitized green steel mill in Serbia. Also cooperating with Yanzhao Steel Lab, University of Belgrade, Institute of Process Engineering, CAS to pursue a whole process green can low carbon development.
